✅ What IS Allowed
- Primary Dwelling - You can install solar panels on the main house.
- Garage - You can install on garages that are attached to the house or separate from it.
-
Alternative Structures - Other buildings are allowed IF they have:
- 4 fully enclosed walls (garage doors and windows are okay)
- A concrete foundation (not just gravel or rock)
- NO corrugated metal roof
* Note: Structures connected to your house or garage don't need 4 walls and a foundation (like block and beam houses).
-
Premier/Maximo Carports/Gazebos - These special carports and gazebos are allowed IF they have Texas stamped structural engineering documentation. These don't need 4 walls or a concrete foundation because they're certified by engineers.

❌ What is NOT Allowed
Ground Mounts
Ground mounts are solar panels that sit on the ground, not on a building. They are NOT allowed in Texas, but they ARE allowed in other states.
What is a permanent structure? A permanent structure has a concrete foundation and 4 walls with a roof.
Non-Permanent Structures
These are buildings that are NOT part of your house or garage. They usually don't have 4 walls, a concrete foundation, or they might have a corrugated roof. These are NOT allowed.
Corrugated Roofs
Any structure with a corrugated metal roof (the wavy metal roof) is NOT allowed.
